Sade finds her new home on day two of the Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival 2025!
The Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival is a two-day celebration with carnival rides, games, a pumpkin patch, food trucks, live performances, and much more. On Saturday, giant pumpkin growers from all over California and beyond will be vying for the top prize – and perhaps a world record – as each of their enormous gourds hits the scale. On Sunday, the excitement continues with the Pumpkin Regatta, where giant pumpkins are hollowed out and transformed into boats to race across the pond. Whether you’re in it for the thrills, the flavors, or the photo ops, Elk Grove Park is the place to be on the first weekend in October!

The Food Literacy Center has an upcoming fundraiser Farmers Market Dinner in Sacramento!
Food Literacy Center is a non-profit organization that teaches children in low-income elementary schools cooking, nutrition, gardening, and active play to improve our health, environment and economy. Their mission is to inspire kids to eat their vegetables. Chef Vo is a young up-and-coming chef running a dinner pop up "5". He creates a dining experience using only 5 ingredients. His concept highlights Asian cuisine across his cultural background.

Organic Skin Studio in Sacramento is offering a special for breast cancer survivors
It's October and it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Owners are Vann & Kevin Luong. Drawing on Vann’s medical background as a Physician Assistant, she has witnessed firsthand many medical challenges patients can face such as how a cancer diagnosis can profoundly impact an individual’s self-esteem, diverting their focus from self-care. During chemotherapy or radiation treatments, patients often encounter hair loss, changes in skin texture, and insomnia, all of which can quickly become a new reality for them. These physical changes significantly influence how individuals perceive themselves and their well-being. This became evident when Vann’s own aunt was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma last year. In October 2023, they launched a month of free facials for cancer patients and survivors to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
