New Haven signs Chuck Wagon Gang

The oldest mixed gospel recording group, the Church Wagon Gang, signed with New Haven Records. Chuck Wagon Gang has 80 years and $40 million in album sales to its credit. Upcoming releases from the group include a CD, Meeting in Heaven, and an accompanying DVD, America’s Gospel Singers.

Hallmark debuts film based on Diann Hunt novel

A film based on the novel For Better or For Worse by the late Diann Hunt will air 9 p.m. EDT July 19. The film stars Kim Fields and Lisa Whelchel, of the hit TV series The Facts of Life. Hunt passed away Nov. 29, 2013 after her battle with cancer. Friends and family will host a red carpet event at her home in remembrance of her and to raise donations for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

Larnelle Harris receives Governor’s Award

Hall of Fame and Grammy-winning vocalist Larnelle Harris will be the first Christian artist to receive the 2014 Kentucky Governor’s Artist Award since the awards began 29 years ago. The award, given “to Kentuckians who have made significant contributions to the arts in the Commonwealth, across the country, and around the globe,” will be presented in October.
